All northern ice roads now open to motorists
All northern overland and ice roads in Saskatchewan are now in operation.
That’s according to Ministry of Highways spokesperson David Horth, who said the Wollaston Lake ice road opened to traffic on Monday. It’s ready for light loads only with a weight restriction up to 15,400 kilograms.
The Shasko Bay to Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac to Uranium City ice roads opened earlier this month and are now at normal operations. The weight restriction for both roads is 34,500 kilograms.
The Stony Rapids overland route is also open, but motorists should be aware of rough spots and to be cautious.
