Province reports 81 new COVID cases, no new deaths

The Government of Saskatchewan is reporting 81 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 50,558 reported cases.That daily total of new cases is down 49 compared to the 140 new cases reported Saturday.

The government no longer issues daily media releases on the COVID numbers but they can be viewed on the Government of Saskatchewan website.

The new cases in northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (five), Far North Central (six), North West (four), North Central (seven), North East (three) and five new cases have pending residence information.

The two new cases with pending residence information were assigned to Far North West (from Aug. 6 (one)) and Far North East (from Aug. 5 (one)) zones.

There are no new deaths being reported. A total of 582 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.2 per cent.

There are 656 cases currently considered active and 49,320 cases are considered recovered.

Another 2,542 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been reported today by the provincial government. Of that daily total, 635 were new first doses and 1,907 are fully vaccinated.

NITHA data

As of Aug. 7 there are 122 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 24; Far North West, 47; Far North East, 44; North Central, six; and North East, one zones.

There are 4,077 cases (96 per cent) recovered, and five people are hospitalized.

There are 46 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; 13, Far North West, 22; and Far North East, five; North Central, six; and North East, 0 zones.

Athabasca Health Authority

As of Aug. 7 the Athabasca Health Authority is reporting the Delta variant seems to be rising in their communities. They’re encouraging all community members to receive the vaccine and have some available in their facilities.

The lockdown of Black Lake was lifted on Aug. 5 however, according to data submitted by the authority the community of Black Lake had 54 new cases of COVID-19 since June 23. The next closest is nine new cases since that date in Stony Rapids. In all five communities reported only 28 are considered active. Yesterday the AHA reported four new cases.
