Night Raiders receives five accolades at Canadian Screen Awards
The 10th annual Canadian Screen Awards recognized Danis Goulet’s Night Raiders in five categories.
Night Raiders, which was released to public audiences last fall, received awards for best original screen play (Goulet), best makeup (Traci Loader), best visual effects (Martin Tori, Darwin Go, John Mariella and Frank Rueter) and best costume design (Kendra Terpenning).
Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, the lead character in the film, received the award for best actress. The Canadian Screen Awards were held April 10.
Goulet travelled to La Ronge in December to screen her film at the Kikinahk Friendship Centre. The movie is about a Cree mother and daughter on the run in 2043. The mother joins an underground band of vigilantes to try and rescue her daughter from a state-run institution.
