Cindy Ann Penney (nee Bennett), age 58, passed away on May 20th, 2022, in Melfort, SK, where she was born on November 4th, 1963. She graduated high school in Melfort, SK, and then pursued a nursing career that took her to La Ronge, SK, which became her home for the remainder of her adult life.
Treasured friendships made in the north, a sense of adventure that took her on a few travels, living on the lake edge, picking blueberries, skiing, and kayaking with her son, companionship of several beloved dogs and her avid enjoyment of curling and TV game shows are a few more pieces that made up Cindy’s life.
Cindy was known as a hard worker who looked to provide the best care possible. She was also known for her contagious ability to have fun. An event organized by Cindy usually included way too much food, extravagant decorations and costumes, and countless smiles and laughs. If you were to ask the question “who threw the best children’s birthday parties in La Ronge during the 2000s”, the name Cindy Penney would come up unanimously.
Cindy’s life was not without struggle, but she lived her life with elegance and grace. There are not too many people tougher than Cindy. Her optimism and determination were truly inspiring. With her doctors claiming she dealt with illness like no one they have ever met. No matter what life threw her way, Cindy spoke only words of positivity and love. Cindy’s presence beamed inspiration and hope in all those who met her. Her legacy will live forever in all those who she cared for during her time on earth. There will truly never be another Cindy Ann Penney.
Left to grieve, her only son and light of her life, Hayden Penney, parents Ken and Betty Bennett, sisters Carmon (Kevin) Gryba and Deanna (Keith) Folden, uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews, great niece and great nephew, and her fur babies Douglas and Daisy.
Predeceased by maternal grandparents Jack & Alice McHarg and paternal grandparents Jim & Bessy Bennett.
In lieu of flowers, those so wishing, may make donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
A small celebration of life will be held at a later date.
