Murder charges laid against youth in death of man at Montreal Lake Cree Nation

RCMP said they have made an arrest following the death of a 50-year-old man in Montreal Lake Cree Nation last week.

On May 2, police said that Keith Stewart was found lying on a road in the community.

Stewart was receiving medical assistance when officers arrived but was soon after declared deceased on the scene.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, a youth female under the age of 16 from Montreal Lake Cree Nation has been charged with second-degree murder.

She is scheduled to make her next court appearance on Friday. The youth cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
