Fire Chief Keaton Cloud told larongeNOW this has been one of their more successful years for recruitment.

“We’ve had a total of 14 applicants but due to not having enough bunk space and firefighter PPE we could only bring on nine this year,” he said, adding that the department has a waitlist for those people wishing to join. “It goes to show that our department as a whole is really doing well and people want to join our team.”

When asked about the benefit this has for the community, Cloud said it ensures there are enough first responders for any emergency that arises.
