Ceremony marks milestone for 34 CCHS graduates
Family and friends of 34 Churchill Community High School (CCHS) graduates gathered Friday to mark an important milestone in their lives.
The ceremony was held at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre on National Indigenous Peoples Day. In her speech, Principal Kristianna Merasty explained 26 of the graduates were Indigenous.
She told the graduates her advice for them moving forward was to be open to new opportunities as they come. She said they will take them in a direction they would never have dreamed of and lead them to a place they are meant to be.
“When self-doubt rears its ugly head, remember that you are capable, strong and resilient. Reflect back to this moment and all of the hard work you did to get here and all of the things you overcame. The times that you wanted to give up, but didn’t. Believe in yourself,” she said.
