Warmest July on record for La Ronge, Meadow Lake
La Ronge and Meadow Lake had the warmest July on record.
That’s according to data from Environment and Climate Change Canada, which showed the month mean temperature for La Ronge at 20.5 C (60 years of record keeping) and the monthly mean temperature for Meadow Lake at 19.5 C (76 years of record keeping. That represents a 3 C departure from normal for La Ronge and a 2.8 C departure from normal for Meadow Lake.
Meadow Lake also experienced its third driest July on record with 22 millimeters of rain out of a normal 75.2 mm. It was the 10th driest in La Ronge with 44.2 mm of rain out of a normal 80.5 mm.
“We had a pretty dramatic swing from June to July and it really just came down to the predominate upper pattern that we saw,” said meteorologist Justin Shelley.
