Roosevelt in, LaBatte out as Riders face Redblacks

The Roughriders gain one of their best and lose one of their best as they square off in the eastern semi-final Sunday afternoon.

Star receiver Naaman Roosevelt returns to the lineup after missing the last three games of the season with a concussion.

With the Riders spot in the playoffs secured, Jones said it was the best decision for him.

“To play him was just putting him at risk, in harm’s way of not being able to play in the playoffs so I decided not to play him,” Jones said.

Jones had also confirmed earlier in the week that they would be without their 2017 most outstanding offensive lineman Brendon LaBatte, after he went down against Edmonton last week.

Derek Dennis, who had been battling a back injury, returns to the lineup in his place.

Running backs Cameron Marshall and Trent Richardson, despite practicing this week, both find themselves on the 1-game injured list. Kienan LaFrance and Marcus Thigpen are expected to share tailback duties.

And linebacker Samuel Eguavoen returns to the lineup, slotted behind Jeff Knox Jr.

Kickoff against the Redblacks is at noon on Sunday.
