Aura Cannabis to open new La Ronge store soon

Jun 6, 2018 | 8:00 AM

The company that won the cannabis permit for La Ronge is looking forward to meeting with town council and First Nations communities.

That’s according to a written statement provided to larongeNOW from Aura Cannabis Inc. Executive Vice-President Andrew Gordon. It states prior to applying for the store location, the company did early community engagement and will be doing more as soon as possible.

“Aura knows that as a small community, La Ronge has some unique needs and this will be taken into account in store design, operating policies and staff training,” Gordon noted. “Working in age-restricted retail, social responsibility is at the heart of our business and, as we work to open our store in La Ronge, we will ensure that our store fits within the community.”

Gordon also added the company will work according to the policies set out by the Saskatchewan Gaming and Liquor Authority, as well as social responsibility measures in Aura’s business model. That means there will be no entry for minors, refusal to serve anyone impaired by drugs or alcohol, and focusing on helping customers understand how to use cannabis in a responsible way. Aura, Gordon noted, informs customers to “start low, go slow,” as way to remind people to start with small amounts of cannabis to see how they react before having more.
