RCMP in La Loche are hunting for a 29-year-old man accused of pointing a firearm and fleeing police.

According to police, Rudy Waylan Conroy Park, a resident of Clearwater River Dene Nation, is wanted in connection with an incident Aug. 9 which occurred on the Dene nation. Officers received a complaint of a firearm being pointed at a person, and spotted a suspect driving away. Police attempted a traffic stop, RCMP said, though the suspect fled the scene.

RCMP said a warrant has been issued for Park’s arrest on charges including assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, driving while disqualified, dangerous driving, driving while being pursued by police, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

“The public is advised not to approach Rudy Waylan Conroy Park and are asked to contact police,” the RCMP said in a statement.

Anyone with information on Park or the Aug. 9 incident was asked to contact La Loche RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
