One man arrested following weekend incident in La Loche

A La Loche man is facing a number of charges following an incident in the community on Saturday. 

Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, RCMP were conducting patrols in La Loche when members encountered a group of people drinking alcohol on a public roadway. When police asked the group to pour out the alcohol, one man refused to cooperate. The man then resisted arrest, assaulting two police officers in the process. A Taser was used to subdue the man, who suffered minor injuries in the incident. 

Two RCMP officers also suffered minor injuries in the incident and needed medical attention. A 34-year-old man from La Loche is facing charges including assault a peace officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats and causing a disturbance in relation to the incident. Ramsey Herman made his first court appearance Monday and is scheduled to return to court Aug. 23.
