Charges laid after home invasion in Deschambault Lake

Seven people have been charged after RCMP were called to a reported home invasion Friday in Deschambault Lake.

According to a new release, officers were called to a residence in the northern community Sept. 21 and when police arrived, they found three men who were assaulted, as well as severe damage to the property. Officers noted windows were smashed and glass was all around the residence.

As a result of an investigation, RCMP have charged Blake Ballantyne with possession of a weapon to commit an offence, Elijah Fredrick Ballantyne with assault with a weapon, mischief and obstruction, Jade Ballantyne with mischief, possession of a weapon to commit an offence and breach of probation, Jefferson Bradley Custer with mischief, obstruction and uttering threats, Lester Custer with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon to commit an offence and failure to comply with an undertaking. Jose Ballantyne was charged with aggravated assault. A female youth was charged with mischief and resisting arrest. She cannot be named due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. 

The matter is still under investigation. RCMP stated all the accused were remanded for court and made their first court appearance in La Ronge, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m.
