One dead, three in serious condition following single-vehicle collision near La Ronge

One person is dead following a fatal motor vehicle accident about two kilometers south of La Ronge.

According to an RCMP news release, police responded to a single-vehicle collision at aproximately 3:30 a.m.  this morning along Highway 2. Upon arrival, officers determined a northbound Toyota Tundra left the roadway and entered the westside ditch. Of the five occupants of the vehicle, an adult female was declared dead at the scene. The new release stated the driver and three other occupants, all adults, were taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.  

La Ronge EMS Operations Manager Corey Ecarnot said in an interview with larongeNOW the surviving four patients were airlifted to hospital in Saskatoon. He noted three are in serious condition and one was stable.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist is currently on scene assisting with the investigation. Police say the cause and factors to the incident remain under investigation, but at this time alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The investigation will continue with the assistance from the Saskatchewan`s Coroner`s Office.
