Peace and harmony focus of International World Singing Day

Oct 19, 2018 | 5:00 PM

All tri-community residents are invited to the downtown beach tomorrow at 1 p.m. to be part of a global movement called International World Singing Day.

“La Ronge is a wonderful, beautiful place and I would like it put on the map for something very positive,” event organizer Sheila Price said. “What we’re famous for is some of the struggles we have being in northern Saskatchewan, so we have a real opportunity to visually through video show who we really are.”

With the event organized in conjunction with Liberators International based in Australia and World Singing Day from the United States, Price noted it involves 221 cities from 46 countries. She added La Ronge will be the most northern community in Canada to participate and video collected at the event will be used to create a montage film about world peace, humanity and harmony.

Some of the songs which will be sang at the one-hour event are Happy by Pharrel Williams and From Now On by The Greatest Showman. Handouts with lyrics will be provided to those who don’t know the words and anyone wanting to go are welcome to attend. Price first learned of Liberators International a couple years ago after participating in a flash mob on a bus in Prince George.
