RCMP advise public to stay safe this Halloween

Oct 31, 2018 | 2:00 PM

La Ronge RCMP is reminding the public to stay safe this Halloween by following a few simple tips.

According to an RCMP media release, those partaking in trick-or-treating this evening are reminded to walk in groups with a parent or chaperone, wear reflective tape, carry a flashlight to be seen by passing motorists, stay in well lit areas and notify a parent or trusted adult on what time you plan to return. Given the weather conditions, police advise those who will be out to wear appropriate clothing such as gloves, a warm jacket and grip boots. Young people are also reminded not to accept rides from people they are unfamiliar with.

“We will be doing some extra patrols around the community so trick-or-treaters should keep an eye out for officers handing out candy from their patrol cars,” the release stated.

Motorists are also asked to pay extra attention as children will be walking the streets throughout the tri-communities. Any suspicious activity can be reported to the La Ronge RCMP at 1-306-425-6730.
