Loose wire cause of La Ronge liquor store shutdown

Nov 19, 2018 | 11:00 AM

The provincial liquor store in La Ronge was closed for nearly two hours Nov. 17 after staff noticed a burning smell in the building.

That’s according to Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority Communications Manager David Morris who said staff noticed the smell at approximately 3:30 p.m. As a precaution, the store was temporarily closed and the La Ronge Regional Fire Department was called to investigate. He noted an electrician was also called in and determined the smell originated from an electrical panel box, adding the issue was discovered to be a loose wire and the store reopened shortly after 5 p.m.

“The La Ronge store opened at its regular time this morning and it’s business as usual,” Morris stated.
