RCMP seize more alcohol in check stop near Pelican Narrows
Bootlegging is a problem in some northern Saskatchewan communities as RCMP continue to crack down on attempts to transport liquor into dry areas.
RCMP seized a large quantity of alcohol and laid charges against one woman following a check stop near Pelican Narrows on Friday. It was the second time in a week that police seized alcohol in that community.
Cpl. Rob King said dry communities such as Pelican Narrows are facing challenges around alcohol.
“It’s a dry community, yet we still have several alcohol-related incidents in the community so it is still a problem,” he said. “It’s a significant issue in all the northern dry communities.”
