Planned power outages scheduled near La Ronge and Stanley Mission

Hundreds of SaskPower customers near La Ronge and Stanley Mission will be without power Jan. 9 for most of the afternoon for general maintenance.
“I don’t know if there’s any specific reason, but a big part of our general maintenance program is making sure the poles are in good shape,” said SaskPower spokesperson Joel Cherry. “If the poles are breaking, it could lead to outages and that type of thing, but I think it’s just routine maintenance.”
The planned outages will affect 532 customers in Bell’s Point between the hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., as well as 40 rural customers near Stanley Mission from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Administration at the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s Bell’s Point Elementary School and Senator Myles Venne School both stated students will be dismissed for the day at 12 p.m.
