First Nations groups partner on new forestry alliance

Several local-area First Nations have signed on to a new agreement to manage forest lands and build on opportunities in the industry.

The new Saskatchewan First Nations Forestry Alliance includes 13 First Nations, including the Montreal Lake Cree Nation, Big River First Nation, Pelican Lake First Nation, Witchekan Lake.....

Escaped penitentiary inmate turned himself in: CSC

The Correctional Service of Canada has confirmed that an inmate who escaped from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary New Year’s Eve turned himself in over the weekend at a correctional facility in southern Alberta.

Steven Briggs, 24, turned himself in to staff members at Bowden Institution. The CSC said Briggs turned.....

Judge rules on challenge over Métis hunting and fishing rights

Three men charged with illegally hunting and fishing in northwest Saskatchewan have lost a challenge to government regulations over Métis rights to hunt and fish.

The men were charged in three separate incidents going back to 2012. The three went to trial at the same time, arguing their Métis.....
