Give a Little Life Day

My Hospital, Our Future

SEE THE POSTER BELOW REGARDING LOCAL PHILANTHROPIST DONATION TO THIS YEAR’S FUNDRAISER.

Our radiothon is now thirteen years old! Over 4.5 million dollars has been raised for better health care, right here at home.

But the need never stops.

How a sick baby is treated in the first few days after delivery will have a long term impact on it’s health and development. This is a critical mission. – Peggy Lambos, Pediatrician, Prince Albert.

Our hospital delivers 1500 babies each year and was originally planned as a “well baby” nursery. A “well baby” doesn’t require any special medical care and is healthy enough to room in with mom. But today, our small nursery is functioning as a Level 2 Neonatal Unit, stabilizing and caring for a growing number of sick and premature infants – as young as 32 weeks.

Our Goal: To grow and advance our Neonatal Unit.

Our Prince Albert pediatric team has the skills and training to stabilize and care for fragile newborns born with HIV, Hepatitis C, addictions, as well as pre-term babies. As a result, our hospital is seen as a destination by the Neonatal and Pediatric teams throughout Saskatchewan and regularly accepts babies from Saskatoon and Regina when needed.

Even with a new children’s hospital in Saskatoon, our hospital will continue to play a critical role in supporting the Saskatoon and Regina NICUs to ensure we can keep these fragile babies in Saskatchewan.

Our Neonatal unit needs to be upgraded and expanded with new and additional technology to care for these precious babies. We need your help!

Our most ambitious campaign ever! We need to raise 2 million dollars for the future expansion of our Neonatal Unit with:

A bay for each baby outfitted with medical gases, an incubator, monitors and a place for mom to nurse and sleep.
New warming incubators that also can cool to address brain injury during delivery.
Resuscitation equipment and ventilators for infants.
Mobile ultrasound equipment to check baby’s heart, lungs, and kidneys quickly and safely in the room.
Oxygen blenders for babies who need help breathing.
A chair and pull out bed for every mom to be near her baby.

Listen LIVE Friday, December 7, 2018 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Broadcast on three Prince Albert Stations:900 CKBI, XFM and Power 99FM
