Animal Abuse

Jan 14, 2019 | 1:59 PM

Animal abuse is a serious social issue affecting innocent pets.

Animals feel pain and fear like we do, but sadly cannot speak for themselves and are often victims of abuse.

Animal abuse can include any of the of the following: physical abuse (non-accidental injury), sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect.

These animals become a product of their environment.

They tend to be timid, depressed and in some cases show signs of aggression.

This is a learned behavior that can change when taken out of the hostile situation, and placed into loving care.

Federal and Provincial legislation works to help animals that are being abused.

Recognizing and reporting abuse is important, as it not only helps to make offenders accountable for their actions, but it can save lives of many helpless animals.

Offenders that are charged with animal abuse, are often linked to showing signs of violence towards humans (and vice versa).

If you witness animal abuse, please do not hesitate to report it to Animal Protection Services of Saskatchewan (APSS) or your local Law Enforcement. All allegations of abuse are considered serious. If you have any questions, please contact us via Facebook messenger or phone us at 1-306-420-6550.
