CONTINUING THE HEALING JOURNEY TOGETHER: MACSI TO CELEBRATE 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Métis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan (MACSI) is very excited to celebrate its 50th Anniversary as a service provider and a key stakeholder in addictions work in Saskatchewan.

We are a provincial, community-based addictions agency with locations in three cities across the province (Saskatoon, Regina, and Prince Albert). MACSI is status-blind, in terms of serving clients, and welcomes Métis, First Nations and Non Aboriginal people who are seeking support to live safer, healthier lives free of the harmful effects of addictions.

The organization has its Core Office, for finance and administration, human resources, communications, and programming, in Saskatoon.

MACSI is very proud to incorporate Métis and First Nations culture and traditions as very important components of the healing process.  In this same spirit, we look forward to an exciting 2019, including hosting multiple cultural and community events throughout the province.

We will be looking to encourage key messages of reconciliation, healing, and promoting Indigenous culture and traditions.

All events will be as accessible as possible, strive to create more spaces and opportunities for individuals from all sectors, and work to strengthen relationships within our communities.

“Métis Addictions Council of Saskatchewan has always been an organization that has been committed to serving the Métis community and others in the field of addiction services. Working with the MACSI Board and Staff has been a real honor and we value each and every interaction. With MACSI’s commitment and sincerity, the organization has gained much-deserved recognition and respect as a responsive, informed service provider.  Meeting the needs of our clients and the community has always been a main priority for MACSI, and as part of our strength, this will continue to be the focus of our work.”

Reconciliation and healing require work at all levels and from all sectors of society. MACSI recognizes that healthy communities need to be free from addictions, as well as thrive culturally and socially. Through our work at MACSI treatment centres, and through events like this, we honour the principles and calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC).

“All Canadians, as Treaty peoples, share responsibility for establishing and maintaining mutually respectful relationships.”
