Betty Dyck was born on Monday, January 12, 1959 in Saskatoon, SK, and passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018, while having spent three days in the Victoria hospital yelling at nurses that she could change her clothes herself. She was a great woman known for her stories, and you could be sure 50% of them were true. She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that she loved very much. She was known for her honesty, she liked you or she didn’t, it was suck it up, and then go on with a story about walking to school in a blizzard up hill, both ways. She was also the kind woman next door who always had her door open, from needing a warm place to stay, or her last twenty dollars to get you home. She was a master cook in the kitchen, she overcooked everything she made so there was never any doubt you would get sick from germs. Freezing also worked, an unthawed, chewy sandwich didn’t taste the best at school, but you knew it was 100% germ free. Betty will be missed by her daughter, Lisa Warnock; her son, Evan Warnock; her family, friends, especially her close friends, Jim, Dorothy, Liz, and John; as well as numerous teddy bears and mismatched slippers. As per Betty’s request, a funeral service will not be held, but a gathering will be held at a later date, at her favorite spot. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of River Park funeral Home, (306) 764-2727, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
