ANDREWS (nee Garneau) Beverley (Bev) – March 7, 1948 – May 31, 2018.  Age 70.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Wife and Mother

Bev was born to; Murray & Ila Garneau in Saskatoon, SK.  The family moved to Nipawin where she spent most of her childhood / teenage years.  She went to high school at L.P. Miller.  Bev was an only child but spent lots of time with her cousins, especially Pat and Brian Meeds.  Bev took lots of family summer vacations to Waskesiu.  In her teens, she spent a lot of time with her good friend Gail Kukurudza (Miller) and other friends hanging out, driving around town in the Nash, smoking cigars.  On the way home from school, the girls would stop at Gail’s to make home-made French fries.  Even at an early age, Bev had an interest in the medical field.  She was a Candy Striper at the Nipawin hospital.  Bev met her future husband, Keith Andrews, at a bush party.  While at the party, Bev was showing off her athletic skills by swinging from the branches of a pine tree which caught the eye of Keith.  And the rest, as they say, is history.  Keith was smitten with Bev and for the next week, Keith tried phoning to talk to her, a half an hour earlier every night but to no avail.  Finally, her mother asked her if she was going to stay in and accept this young gentleman’s phone call.

Bev and Keith were married January 28, 1967, in Prince Albert, SK.  Later that year, their first daughter, Sherry was born.  Bev was a stay-at-home Mom taking care of Sherry while Keith worked out of town for the Department of Highways.  Four years later, their second daughter, Michelle was born.  Bev became a Brownie leader as both girls were enrolled.  She was always telling the girls that you can’t be calling me Mom here, I’m Brown Owl!  Bev and Keith played Canasta with Pat & Stu Bibby almost every weekend while the children amused themselves.   She also curled in the Business Girls League in Prince Albert.  She loved going to the Lotus Café with Pat for their shoestring French fries!  When the girls were young, Bev started her career at Humphries Clinic in 1979 and continued to work there until the family moved to Saskatoon in 1989.  Bev worked at Saskatoon East Family Physicians for a number of years.  After that, she worked for Dr. Blackwell until her retirement in early 2010.

Bev loved to travel.  As a young family, they went camping all across North America.  There were very few KOA campgrounds that they didn’t visit.  Bev and Keith went to Hawaii for the very first time in 1983 and it was love at first sight.  Bev had found a little slice of paradise.  She became certified to scuba dive so she could do that in Hawaii.  The family continued to visit Hawaii many times thereafter, the last time being  January 2017 for Bev & Keith’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.  While in Hawaii the girls arranged to have their wedding vows renewed.  Bev was as excited as a little girl!  Other wonderful trips to the Dominican, Mexico and all throughout the US and Canada were amazing, but she always wanted to go back to Hawaii.  Many of these trips were with their good friends Lynda & Dennis Mountford.  In August 2011 Bev & Pat ventured to Ontario to attend Joan & Dave Crofton’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.  They were candle lighters for Joan & Dave’s wedding.

Bev enjoyed the almost weekly get-togethers with their close friends the McGeary’s and the Gallagher’s.

Mom had a few fears, with height being one of them.  However, she would overcome them to do what needed to be done.  She was a real trooper and a fighter.  For instance, going out on a ledge at the Grand Canyon, being up on scaffolding holding siding for Keith to attach, going down hills cross-country skiing, escalators, scuba diving, going over bridges or very narrow roads and looking over the edge, submarine rides, tunnels, caves, geckos and moths being the biggest of all.

Over the years, the family had many cats, but one stood out in particular.  Her baby boy Birdie.  Bev thought the world of him and was heartbroken when he passed away in the Fall of 2016.

Her love for all holidays throughout the year was vast as she had decorations and jewelry for every occasion.  However, her love for Christmas was the biggest by far.  She couldn’t wait to decorate every nook and cranny of the house. 

Bev was the best mother and wife anyone could ask for.  We will miss her dearly.

Beverley was predeceased by her mother: Ila Garneau; father: Murray Garneau; mother-in-law: Margaret Andrews; father-in-law: Jack Andrews; and 2 brothers-in-law: Harley and Reg.  She is survived by her husband: Keith Andrews; and 2 daughters: Sherry Andrews and Michelle Andrews.

We will be having a Celebration of Life as Bev / Mom would have wanted lots of laughter, smiles, and hugs.  Everyone who knew her is welcome.  This will take place on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the home of the Gallagher’s at 94 Harvard Crescent, Saskatoon between 3:00 – 6:00 pm.  In lieu of other tributes, please make a donation in Bev’s name to the SPCA, SCAT or any other animal rescue organization.
