Obituary
(1921-2018)
Charles Bellis passed away during the night at Greenhill Lodge in Prince Albert on November 23, 2018.
Charlie, as he was known by his friends, was born in Cheshire, England.
He joined the British Air Force in 1941 where he served as an electrician on aircraft. In 1946 he received a Class A release.
He married Betty Harrison, together they immigrated to Canada in 1957 and made their home in Prince Albert. They often said this was the best move they ever made.
Charlie pursued his career as a painter and became well known for his ability as a sign painter. Several of his gold leaf signs and designs on vehicles can still be seen in the city.
Charlie was active in several service organizations through which he garnered many lifelong friendships. Saturday nights you would often find Charlie and Betty at either Sunnyside Dance Hall, Fish, and Game or the Legion hall, or any place that had dance music.
He brightened our lives with his humor, he loved to tease, always accompanied with a kind smile and a chuckle.
Charlie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty, of 66 years in 2009.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5th at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK.
