It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Harris on Saturday, February 17, 2018 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Donna was surrounded in her final days by those she loved the most. She was born to Richard (Edgar) and Hazel Williams in Shellbrook, SK on March 6, 1955. Donna was the youngest of four girls in a tight knit family of six. The family spent Donna’s early years in Sugar Hill, SK enjoying farm life before settling in Prince Albert where Donna enjoyed playing school sports such as track and field & volleyball. The Williams family home in Prince Albert was on MacDonald Avenue which was one block from where Donna and Frank would buy their first home after marrying in 1974. Donna remained very close with her mom and dad, and she had an active role in their care into their later years. Donna had several different occupations over the years, including but not limited to the Prince Albert Golf & Curling Club, Carlton School, Bank of Montreal, Carnival Bingo and the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division. She also worked alongside her beloved husband Frank at Kemp Thompson McLeod and Lobstick Golf for many years. Donna ultimately found her own way, running her own business as a highly skilled esthetician. This played into her fun-loving and gregarious nature, and she developed many great friendships over the years, which she treasured right up to her final days. Friends and family were everything to Donna – she loved having people around, watching curling, hosting a party, laughing and having fun. She was often considered a second mom to Kyla and Devin’s friends; Frank and Donna’s door was always open and she always took the time to get to get to know people – young and old. Donna was well known to be both a great cook and baker; in addition to having a well-stocked pantry for snacks, her greek ribs, blueberry muffins, and many more items were legendary. Donna was also very well known for her incredible holiday decorating skills – her home was always magazine worthy for Christmas and there was always an exciting parcel of immaculate cookies to be found in the mail come holiday time! Donna’s true passion and joy of the last 8 years were her four grandchildren: she loved nothing more than playing with them, watching them play sports, reading them stories, and of course spoiling them as much as possible! When she couldn’t be there in person, she was always up for a phone call or a FaceTime. We have enjoyed a few family vacations at Waskesiu in recent summers that we all hold close to our hearts as we know she did as well. Donna will be forever missed by her husband, Frank; her daughter, Kyla Radu (Chris); her grandchildren, Lachlan and Ainsley; her son, Devin Harris (Robin); her grandchildren, Liam and Blake; her sisters, Shirley (Ted) Campbell and Sharon (Lance) Odegaard; her in-laws, Mike (Mary) Harris, Chris Harris (Merle Caley), James Harris (Amy Hadley), Ron Harris and Bill (Pat) Tuttroen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Hazel Williams; her mother- and father-in-law, Eileen Harris and Frank Harris Sr.; her sister, Dianne Williams; and her nephew, Marty Campbell. A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Art Hauser Centre (Ches Leach Lounge). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Victoria Hospital Palliative Care, 1200 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK, S6V 4B2, the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, 20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7N 4H4, or the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation, 1 -345 Third Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1M6.
