Evan MacAlpine Passed away peacefully at the John Noble Home in Brantford on April 8th, 2022 in his 105th year.
He and his much-loved wife, Helen, of 66 years of marriage, lived for many years on the farm in Dawn Township. His dedication to those teenagers included building his own version of a “Field of Dreams” baseball field when the Oakdale Picnic Grounds closed the community’s only baseball park. After his five sons were grown, he and Helen moved to Saskatchewan. Evan and Helen continued to nurture by fostering children and supporting neighborhood families. He and Helen held a Sunday School for their neighborhood children, with up to 15 children attending on a Sunday morning. He was a master gardener, inventing his own frost coverings for huge gardens in La Ronge and Wolseley. His own sons appreciated their mom and dad’s care as they gave immeasurable help in hard times.
Evan was predeceased by his wife Helen, son Bruce, grandson Matthew great grandson Liam.
