Gordon Henry Grosskleg
May 1, 1927 – Feb. 20, 2019
Gordon Grosskleg passed away peacefully, having recently moved into Mont St. Joseph Home. A huge thank you to the caring staff there, and the 5th Floor medical staff at Victoria Hospital.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of almost 71 years, Agnes (nee Paul), their 3 sons: James Henry (Elly), Robert Paul (JoAnne), and William Gordon (Brenda), their 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents Henry and Blanche (nee Hurd) Grosskleg and two sisters, Margaret and Beryl.
There will be no funeral at this time, at Gordon’s request. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Gordon took great pride in his work as a carpenter/contractor, as owner of Grosskleg Construction. During this time, he was part of the Board of Directors for P.A. Housing. He built several family homes in Prince Albert, as well as construction on the Hudson’s Bay Store and the old St. Anne’s School. He was also involved with the construction of the original OSB plant in Hudson Bay. Following that, he worked at Anglo Rouyn Mine in northern Saskatchewan, and Lornex, a copper mine in Logan Lake, B.C.
In lieu of flowers or other tributes, Gordon’s family would welcome donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Ave. Saskatoon, S7K 1V9 or Diabetes Canada #104-2301 Avenue C North, Saskatoon, S7L 5Z5.
