Harry Rogowski

Harry Joseph Rogowski was born on Wednesday, September 3, 1930 in Blaine Lake, SK, and passed away at the Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, in Prince Albert SK, at the age of 87 years. Harry is survived by his wife, Opal Rogowski (nee Pelchat); his daughters, Roxanne and Monica Rogowski; his brother, Dan (Dorothy) Rogowski; his sisters, Helen Hunchak and Jean Leschyshyn. He is predeceased by his parents, Nick and Mary (nee Kressock) Rogowski; and his brothers-in-law, Jim Hunchak and Bill Leschyshyn. Over the years Harry has made a living by trapping fur in Bodmin, cleaning the Greenmantle School, farming in Baine Lakes, logging in Waskesiu and Manitoba, loading ships in Churchill, loading and cleaning seed in Bells Limited in Prince Albert. While working for Botting and Dent, Harry trained as a plumber. Harry started at the Prince Albert Pulp Mill when construction began. He later worked at the Pulp Mill as a pipe fitter and then accepted a supervisor position. Harry retired from the Pulp Mill after 25 years. Harry and Opal were married on November 20, 1953 in Victorie, SK, and then moved to Prince Albert. Harry enjoyed fishing, summer weekends with the family were spent camping in Northern Saskatchewan. The favorite fishing spot was Sealy Lake. Harry built a cabin at Little Bear Lake and enjoyed many summers there. In the winter, Harry loved to ice fish on White Swan Lake, Bittern Lake and Candle Lake. No matter what lake or time of year, Harry always seemed to be the one that caught the fish. In the fall Harry often spent time hunting. Over the years he hunted prairie chicken, Canada goose and deer, but his favorite was moose. In his later years, Harry enjoyed tending to his garden with many sunflowers, feeding the wild birds, doing jigsaw puzzles to pass the time and attending the morning coffee meeting. Harry’s memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the River Park Memorial Chapel, interment to take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
