Our Mom, Helen Lewko, passed away in her sleep on Nov. 28, 2018, at the age of 91 years. She was born in Anyox, BC on Dec. 13, 1926, near Granby Bay in Coastal Observatory Inlet across from Alice Arm. This area just about touches the Alaskan Pan Handle. Helen was the second last person to be born in Anyox, BC. She moved to Vancouver when she was 7 years old, after her prospector Dad hit gold. She then met a farmer, named William (Bill) Lewko in the 1960’s, and moved to Prince Albert, SK. They had 3 sons; Leonard (Claire), George (Kathie) and William (Tanis) Lewko. Helen spent the last 6 years of her life at the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert.
Helen was a sweet and sassy lady. She was sharp as a tack, smart as a whip and a very hardworking farm-woman. She loved her cats and gave a great life to countless lucky kitties that found their way to her doorstep. She loved to knit, scrapbook, tend to her garden and have tea with friends and family. Helen loved all her grandchildren; Kieran, Reed, William Jr., Paxton, Jenna and Declan. She always loved the girls that married her boys. Recently, Helen’s daughter in-law, Claire, made a lasagna that turned out perfectly, using Helen’s recipe. She had learned a lot from Helen and believes that she guided her while making it. Thanks Mom; You will be missed. Watch over us all. A Graveside Service for Helen will take place on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 2:00PM located at the South Hill Cemetery in Prince Albert, SK.
