Ivie Brook
July 26, 1924 – December 13, 2018
Ivie Brook passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Dec 13, 2018, at Mont. St. Joseph Care Home. Ivie was born on July 26, 1924, in Sceptre SK to Bill and Phyllis Goodman. It was the year of 1931 when her parents left Sceptre, with their 4 children at the time to settle on a homestead NW of Paddockwood. After a fire in 1936, they had to evacuate to a new site. Shortly after, Ivie took sick and was taken to Shriners Hospital in Winnipeg for treatment. It was a hard time for the family as communication was poor back then. She remained there for quite some time and returned home in 1939.
Ivie married Cyril Brook in 1944. From this union came four children. They raised their children in Moose Lake District and in 1965 were bought out by the Provincial Pasture and relocated to Forest Gate. Mom and Dad continued farming until 1978 when they then took employment at Waskesiu. After Dad’s death in 1987, Mom moved to Prince Albert to be close to her family. Mom had many talents: cooking, crocheting afghans and making quilts for all the family. She took great interest in all that her family was involved in. She was an avid camper, driving her motorhome all over the country to be with her family. There was always fresh buns and a freshly baked cake just out of the oven to share with anyone who dropped in for a visit.
The last three and a half years of Mom’s life were spent at Mont. St. Joseph Care Home where she entertained many with her humor and kind heart.
Ivie will forever be missed by her 4 children; Richard (Jean) Brook, their children; Aleia (Stewart) Nimmo; Liam, Carys, Brett, Sidney; Julie (Martin) Kelly, their children; Brenna, Nolan; Christie (Bruce) Goodfellow their son Rowan; Jody (Louanna) Goodfellow and their children; Cayden and Caleb; Beverley Brown; daughter Merredy (Curtis) Chubey, their children Conner and Brooke. daughter-in-law Roxanne Murphy and her children; Jason, Jeffrey (Amanda), Jared, and son Kale. Russell (Doreen) Brook their children; Curtis Brook, Randi (Ken) Wong and their children Lillian and Emily. Marion (Bob) Telfer and their children Tricia Telfer, Scott (Stacey) Telfer and their children; Logan, Keira, and Katie.
