Janet Shanks Kissick
July 27, 1933 – July 10, 2019
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Janet Kissick (nee Borden) born July 27, 1933 in Saskatoon, Sask. Mom passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Sask. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.
Mom was raised on the family farm in Dodsland, Sask. and later the family moved to Kerrobert, Sask. She met and married Morris Kissick and had 3 children, Nancy, Brent and Susan. She later retired from the Royal Bank in Prince Albert, Sask.
The most important thing in Mom’s life was her family. She was there for every occasion, special or not, always the first one to make sure we were celebrating. There were always many requests for her famous baking, especially her oreo cookies, birthday cakes, desserts, gravy and buns. Mom loved to read and was always on top of the latest celebrity and Royal family gossip from her “People” magazines. Even close to the end she still always finished the crossword puzzles from her magazine and the paper. She always had bags of books that were in rotation with Susan and Nancy. They had their own little book club. Mom always had a special place in her heart for animals and at the end she got the chance to have one last good-bye with her kitties “Furby and Tippy” when they surprised her with a visit at the hospital. There were many cuddles, purrs and kisses.
Mom is survived by her partner of 35 years Jake Heershop and fur babies Furby and Tippy; daughter Nancy (Phil) Vandale and their children Denise (Arliss) Anderson and Todd Vandale; son Brent (Theresa) Kissick and their children Christopher (Alyssa) Kissick and Brody (Alisha) Kissick; daughter Susan (Randy) Magee and their children Breanne (Ken) Riese and Diandra Magee; her special great-grandchildren Andi and Levi (Christopher and Alyssa) and a little boy on the way (Brody and Alisha); her brothers Bill and Don Borden and sister Olga Prebushewski. Janet was predeceased by her parents Janet and Earl Borden; her birth mother Mary (Zabowsky) Pushkarenko; and her brother Robert L. Borden.
At Mom’s request, there will be a Private Family Service at a later date.
Mom, you will be forever loved and always missed.
Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.
Until we meet again. Hugs and Kisses, XOXO
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel (306-922-4729).
