Joyce Fern McKay (née Herron), age 87 of Prince Albert, SK passed away peacefully at Birch View care home in Birch Hills on December 5th 2017. It is with such sadness to bid farewell to such a beautiful lady, but knowing that she is no longer in pain is comforting to those she leaves behind. We will treasure the memories and the laughs we all shared with her over the many years. She married Rusty McKay of Prince Albert and together they had 4 children whom she was so incredibly proud of. Her work years were spent as a care aide at Pineview Terrace, and a psych aide at the Victoria Hospital. Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending time at the lake with Rusty at Sunset Bay and then MacIntosh Point. Her and Rusty had bought a motor home and spent one winter together in Arizona. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, playing bingo, playing cards and tile rummy, making pies, butter tarts, and her homemade potato salad.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband: Rusty McKay, twin sister: Ruth MacKinnon, sister: Joan Wildey, brother: Calvin Herron, and parents: Hazel and Charles Herron.
Joyce is survived by her loving family: her son Jim McKay, daughter: Patricia Devin (Pat), daughter: Charlene McKay, and son: William McKay (Jamie). Her grandchildren: Kim Pagé, Kara Michaluk, Sean Devin, Ryan McKay, Brendan McKay, Landon McKay, and Kieran McKay . Her great-grandchildren Brooklyn and Cailin Pagé, Davis and Avery Michaluk, Kaylee, Reese, and Kemp McKay, and Grayson Devin, and her sister: Faye Scobie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Birch View nursing home for the love of our mother and grandmother. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
