It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Kenneth Douglas Huyghebaert at the age of 69. Ken passed away surrounded by the many people who loved him dearly.
Ken was born on August 26th, 1948 in Melfort Sask. and passed away on April 12th, 2018 in Saskatoon Sask. He was the youngest son of Paul and Evelyn (Arkell) Huyghebaert.
Ken spent his early years in Hudson Bay Sask. until his family moved to Prince Albert Sask. He attended Connaught School and graduated from Riverside Collegiate. After graduation, he started working at Thorpe Brothers Plumbing and Heating as a roofer and eventually making his way to the office and became the purchasing manager a career that lasted for 40 plus years finally retiring in 2008.
Ken was a tremendous, accomplished and gifted athlete. He excelled at hockey, ball and had a passion for golf. He was on many provincial winning hockey and ball teams. He loved this part of his life as he made many lifelong friendships. After retirement, you could always find him on a golf course.
For the past 8 years, Ken spent his winters in Hemet, California with his friend and partner Donna. He loved his time in California where he could golf and spend time with his many friends and he truly enjoyed all the Sask company that would come for a visit.
Ken was the most amazing, caring, compassionate, non-judgmental, genuine and of course the funniest man that you could ever meet. We won’t soon forget that twinkle in his eye and the little smirk on his face. He has truly left a huge hole in all our hearts.
