In 1948, he went to Edmonton to go to welding school. It was this skill that brought him to Chelan in 1951 to work for Harold Graham in his garage. On August 10th, 1955 he married Emily Dixon. In 1956 they purchased the garage and B.A. bulk oil station from Harold which they ran for over twenty-five years serving Chelan and surrounding area. Gaining many lifetime friends and customers. After the closing of the garage he worked several seasonal jobs including the pelleting plant in Porcupine and Tisdale school bus maintence shop. He was very active in all areas of the community from the early days of the Chelan curling club to the first president of the Chelan Seniors Club. Lyle’s passion in life was of course influenced by his large family roots and all of the extended family members. Another of Lyle’s passions was hunting and fishing. From the beginning of the water fowl season to the end of big game season many days started and ended with the hunt.
