It is with sadness, that the family of Mary Bowerman announce her passing June 14, 2018 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Her passing was peaceful, for which we are thankful to God.
Mary will be fondly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Russell Bowerman, her daughters: Darlene (Dennis) Nadane, Diane (Harvey) Jacobsen, and granddaughters: Alisha (Larry) Truax and Amy (Danny) Saez. She is also survived by her brother: Joseph Strutz (Ruth) and sister: Cecilia (George) Sommerville, sister-in-law: Dolly Strutz.
Mary was predeceased by her parents: Sam and Sophie Strutz; brothers: Johnny and David Strutz.
Mary had three major priorities in life including her faith, her family and her career as an elementary school teacher.
Mary was born raised and lived her life in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her faith was strong and guided her entire life.
Her family held a high priority for her. She doted on her granddaughters. She lived next door to her parents and cared for them in their declining years. She remembered birthdays and anniversaries and made sure that we were all pampered in equal measure.
Mary served 33 years as an elementary school teacher, an occupation for which she was truly suited. It pleased her greatly to hear from former students who would seek her out to relate the events of their own lives. Clearly, she had an impact on many of “her kids” over the years. When was required to retire, for health reasons, she would often say that she would cry when the kids were going back to school, and she could not be with them.
In Mathew 5:4 we read “Blessed are those who mourn, for thy shall be comforted”. Indeed, we who mourn will be comforted by the many fond memories that will remain with us. We will be comforted by the support from families and friends over the coming days and most importantly we will be comforted in knowing that she is now at peace and that she died in the faith of the return of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, at which time she can look forward to being reunited with family and many friends.
Funeral Services for Mary will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 a 1:00 p.m. at Grays Funeral Chapel, 575-28 Street West, Prince Albert with interment to follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
