In 1944, she married Peter Hryhorchuk. They lived and farmed in Strong Pine until they moved to Meath Park in 1977. They raised 4 children – Patricia, Irene, Peter and Jeannie. Mary worked as a janitor at the Meath Park school for about 10 years. She approached this job with the same dedication and hard work as she did on the farm. She was adored by students and staff. She belonged to the senior’s club in Meath Park and was a very social person. She had time and a friendly smile for everyone she met.
Her favorite things to do were: playing cards, hockey nights in Canada, knitting, crocheting and cooking. Later she enjoyed playing on the floor with her great grandchildren. She moved to Prince Albert in 2003 and eventually to Kopera care home and Mont St. Josephs nursing home as her health declined and dementia progressed.
