Myrna Alice Peterson (nee Crowdis) passed away peacefully in her home, with her family by her side, on August 31st, 2018. Mom was born on January 7th, 1941, the second child born to Elizabeth Florence and William George Crowdis. Mom was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. She attended school until Grade 9, and then worked until she met and married Gordon Peterson in 1960. Mom and Dad farmed near St. Louis, SK until 1969 when they moved to Flin Flon, MB. Mom returned to Prince Albert in 1972 following Dad’s passing that spring. She attended adult education, and then worked for the Prince Albert Public School Board as a school secretary until she retired in 1999.
Mom was passionate about life! She was a hard worker, never afraid of any task. Her cabin at Candle Lake was a favorite on weekends and summer holidays and mom spent a good amount of her retirement years there, working in her flowerbeds, going for walks and spending time with friends and family. Regardless of whether she was picking mushrooms, sitting at the beach, doing a puzzle or working on pottery, mom was passionate about everything she did. Always dedicated to family, mom was the first person we went to with our celebrations and our sorrows; she was our go to! She had a wonderful and positive outlook on life and was always there to help out with whatever was needed.
She will be lovingly remembered by: her children Brenda Hayduk of Codette, SK and Gail Peterson of Prince Albert; her grandchildren Riley and Alysha Hayduk; her brother Dan (Marlene) Crowdis of Prince Albert and her sister Peg (Dave) Mills of Saskatoon; her sister in law Kay Jones of Qualicum Beach, BC and sister in law Daphne Reid of Saskatoon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Gordon A. Peterson; her parents, Elizabeth and Bill Crowdis of Prince Albert; her mother and father in-law Svea and Vic Peterson of Prince Albert; her sisters Joyce (Les) Hunt of Vernon BC and Mary Johnson of Saskatoon; her brothers Bill Crowdis of Duck Lake and David Crowdis of Prince Albert and her brother-in-law Nairn (Jean) Peterson of Saskatoon.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 6th at 11:00 am at Gray’s Funeral Chapel. Interment in South Hill Cemetery will follow the service, with lunch to follow at Gray’s Funeral Chapel.
