It is with sadness that the family of Odin Jacobsen announce his peaceful passing on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Pineview Nursing Home in Prince Albert.
Odin was born December 30, 1927 at Loreburn Sasakatchewan. During the thirties, he and his family moved north along with many other victims of the drought. Odin took pride in having cleared the “home” quarter of heavy bush and farming it for more than sixty years. That was indeed a lot of work and was his home until a year before his death.
He also drove school bus for more than twenty years. Odin was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the company of several dogs over the years, most particularly Sam and Jose.
Odin is predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (Dolly); his parents, Otto and Aagot Jacobsen; his stepsons, Allen and Ron Hovdebo; his brother Leif Jacobsen and his sister, Doris Dixon. He is survived by his sisters Gladys Ronning and Kristine Beatty; his stepson, Rick (Pat) Hovdebo; and step daughters Janice (Richard) Buchynski, and Dawn Hovdebo; daughters-in-law Joan Hovdebo and Linda Hovdebo; 8 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575-28 Street West Prince Albert, SK on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Iris Kristiansdottir presiding. Interment will follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations in memory of Odin may be made to A Charity of One’s Choice or to the SPCA, every animal Odin came into touch with was special tohis heart.
