August 29, 1932 – December 16, 2017
Olga Johnston (nee Hrynuik), late of rural Prince Albert, passed away on December 16, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Olga was born on August 29, 1932 in Humboldt, SK to parents George and Nettie Hrynuik. She married Ernie Johnston on October 23, 1954. Olga was an avid member of the Prince Albert Archery Club for many years, winning numerous Saskatchewan Championships culminating in the representation of Canada at the World Archery Championships in Zagreb, Yugoslavia in 1974. She was inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame in 1993. Olga loved sewing, gardening and most importantly her flowers. She also loved hugs, especially from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Calvary United Church, singing in the choir for many years. One of her greatest enjoyments was to walk the trail on their acreage and she continued going to the gym until shortly before her passing. In the last few years she faced numerous health problems with both dignity and grace. Olga is survived by: her husband of 63 years: Ernie; her daughters: Bonnie (Mike) Furi, Karen (Tom) Roberts; her son: Warren (Lisa Parlee) Johnston; her grandchildren: Matthew (Vanessa) Roberts, Megan (Ian Burgess) Furi, Jared (Cherise) Roberts, James Johnston, Jordan Roberts, Jessica (Dan McElroy) Roberts, Andrew Johnston, and Nicholas Furi; her great-grandchildren: Ivey Roberts, Lennon and Liam Roberts and Leo and Clara Burgess; as well as her siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. In lieu of other tributes donations in memory of Olga may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
