PAULINA MARKOWSKI

September 26, 1943 – June 3, 2018

The family of Paulina Markowski with sorrow in our hearts, wish to announce her peaceful passing in her sleep on June 3, 2018 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert. She was born on September 26, 1943 in the Hansworth Area, SK to Alex and Olena “Helen” (nee Kolenderski) Bakaluk. She was born and raised on the family farm and spent her years there until she met Mike Markowski. They were married on May 31, 1959. They moved to Prince Albert and Mom began waitressing at two local restaurants, The Lotus and The Princess Café. After the birth of their daughter Barbara, they moved out to the farm north of Prince Albert. In the summer of 1973, Paulina started working at the Forest Nursery and remained there until its privatization in 1996. She then went to Pike Lake Provincial Park until her retirement in 1999. After retiring, they moved back to Prince Albert, and most recently she lived at The Colombian Center where she resided until her passing. Paulina is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Barbara Shultz; her granddaughter, Chantal (Luis Mondragon) Markowski; her sisters, Anne Thachuk and Mary Bakaluk; her brother, Mike Bakaluk; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bakaluk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Mike Markowski; her parents, Alex and Olena “Helen” (nee Kolenderski) Bakaluk; her brothers, George (Joyce) Bakaluk and Joe Bakaluk; and her parents-in-law, John A. and Anna Markowski. A Celebration of Paulina’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, at River Park Funeral Home, Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz officiating.
