It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Ray Anthony Vandale May 2nd, 2018. Ray was born in Prince Albert to Alexander and Irene (nee Henry) Vandale. He was the second youngest of four children and lived his whole life in Prince Albert. Growing up Ray and his family spent the summers at Waylon Bay and would often be at ball tournaments on the weekend. Ray married the love of his life, Valerie (nee Benson) June 07, 1969. Together they had two children, Darcy and Tarra. Ray started his concrete career in his teenage years and started his own concrete finishing business in his early twenties. Ray loved sports and played softball, hockey, broomball and boxed in his younger years. He continued to play softball and hockey, and also started curling and archery after he was married. He excelled as a pitcher and also in archery. Ray traveled to Mexico, the Maritime’s, Quebec, Ontario and all over Saskatchewan for archery. He won many medals and broke a few records. Ray’s love for sports and children also led him to coach softball and hockey, and he was very involved with the East End Community Club. Ray loved fishing and hunting and whenever he wasn’t working he would be doing one of the two. He introduced his children and their friends to fishing and many of them still share his passion today. Thanks to Ray all of his grandchildren love fishing. One of his favorite things was fishing with his grandchildren, and hearing about their hunting and fishing adventures. Ray was an amazing gentle man, who was always willing to lend a helping hand and would often give people who were down on their luck a job. He will always be remembered by everyone who knew him by his great sense of humor and how he loved to tease. He will be forever remembered by his family as a hard working, dedicated father and husband who loved life, but most of all, them. Ray is survived by his wife of 48 years, Valerie; his son Darcy (Kim) Vandale and their children Landyn and Tanner; his daughter Tarra (Dustin) and their children Kyla and Layne; his sister Darlene (Norm) McKay; his sisters-in-law Marlene Anderson and Anita Torbert; his Godchildren, Jason Britski, Bev Ferland and Chris Vandale; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ray was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Irene Vandale; his brothers Leonard (Humphrey) Vandale, and Kenny Vandale; and his brother-in-law Howard Anderson. The Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 2:00PM at St. Joseph’s Church, 260 25th St. E, Prince Albert, SK, with Father Tuyen Vu officiating.
