It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thelma (Peg) Smith, aged 99 years, at the Herb Basset Home in Prince Albert. She was born on Sept. 2, 1918 and passed away March 30, 2018.
Peg was born in North Dakota to Andrew and Irene Bilquist, where the family settled on a farm near Kinistino.
Finishing school in P.A. Peg met and married John Tarves, a pharmacist. They raised two children and led a very active life; homemaking, golf, curling and volunteer work.
Many years later, she met and married Jim Smith in Arizona where they enjoyed an active life of travel, golf and socializing.
Peg is survived by her son John Tarves Jr. (Jerline), and by her daughter Judy Sitter (Bill). She has three grandchildren; Melissa Durrell (Jason Vandermeulen), Michael Durrell (Sterling Maffenbeier) and Jacqueline Thair (Rob Rozycki); and great grandchildren Kennedy and Marcus Durrell Vandermeulen.
Thank you to the Herb Basset Home for their kind and considerate care of our mother.
Peg will be laid to rest this summer with her mother and father in Kinistino.
