Our beloved mother passed away unexpectedly but peacefully with her daughters by her side on Friday, September 20, 2019, at the age of 89 years.  She will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Sandra (Peter Fischer) and Maxine; and missed by special four-legged friend, Bear; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; and daughter, Colleen.
Mom and Dad moved from the farm to Birch Hills in 1969.  After Dad’s passing in 1999, Mom’s happiest times were spent working in her yard where her artistic and creative projects were on full display.  She was thrilled to be recognized by the town for her efforts.  Her deck became a gathering place for family, friends and neighbors and everyone has a story about her back yard wiener roasts.  Mom moved to Northcote Manor in Prince Albert in 2016.  She adapted well to city life and although she missed her yard she enjoyed plenty of deck time at Maxine’s.  Mom had energy to burn and it was a wasted day if nothing was accomplished.  She was a talented seamstress and with some initial coaching from Grandma Strand became skilled at quilting, crocheting and knitting.  To the end our Mom was sweet, good-natured and young at heart. She was always up for a card game, loved music, laughter and the company of like-minded friends.  Mom we will miss you so much.  You were there for our first breath and we were there for your last – we will be forever grateful.  We will be honouring Mom’s wishes with a private graveside service.
