It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Ormerod, at the age of 81.  Mum was brave and courageous in her fight against Alzheimer’s.  She was the most strong, brave and determined person we knew.  Mum was much more than a stay at home Mum.  She not only raised 7 children but also volunteered with Sask. Music Festival Association, the P.A. Group Home Society, as well as decades coaching swimming, in which she and Dad were inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1986, for their tireless efforts and influence on the lives of so many.

After an excruciating car accident, Mum suffered spinal injuries.  Mum never let on how much it impacted her day to day quality of life.  You would always see Mum shoveling, rolling big rocks up the hill or some physically demanding task.  Mum always gave whatever time she could to others, and positively impacted the lives of so many.  Mum was the best Mum a child could have.  Whether it was waking us all with a cup of tea at 5 am before swimming, or freshly baked goods after school before coaching again, holding our heads when we were ill or just being there for us always, made our childhood full of love and support.

Mum also loved to play tennis, ride her bike, play the piano, knit and welcome in numerous stray cats, dogs, and squirrels.  She also was a scrabble genius, who spent many hours playing with her daughter, Lucy.  After Mum’s passing her cat of 18 years, Mr. Puff passed away only a few days later.

Mum was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Richard Ormerod, and brothers Jonathon and David, as well as other numerous relatives in England.  Mum is and will always be greatly missed by daughters, Katie, Lucy, and Clare, as well as brothers Richard and Hugh.  In lieu of gifts or flowers, we would really appreciate any donations to either:  geoengineeringwatch.org  OR  augmentinforce.com
