August 25, 1963 – November 22, 2018
Valerie Payton (nee Bornn) passed away on November 22, 2018 with her husband Geoff at her side. She grew up on a farm in the Austin MB area, and moved to Prince Albert in 1981. Valerie had a deep spiritual devotion and connection to God, which led her to be an incredibly generous and selfless woman who always put others before herself.
Married in 1985, Valerie enjoyed 33 years of devoted companionship with her husband Geoff. She was a loving mother to daughter Kendra and son Mat. Family meant everything to her, and she showed it every day in all ways. Valerie loved to read, listen to gospel music, help with home renovations, and enjoyed camping and time spent at the lake or in the garden. She enjoyed celebrating every holiday with decorations, music, and family.
Though she “never knew what she wanted to be”, most of her work life was spent with Sask. Rivers School Division, caretaking at Red Wing School, Won Ska, and the Transport Garage.
Valerie is survived by her husband Geoff, her daughter Kendra (Andrew) and their daughter Gabrielle; and her son Mat, all of Prince Albert, her mother Margaret Bornn, siblings: Birnie (Pat), Anita, Reg (Julie), and Rod, brother-in-law Martin (Valerie) and their families, also her memory will be forever cherished by Geoff’s siblings: Rob (Jacqueline), Margaret (Babe), Christine (Jim), and Fred (Marlene) as well as their families.
She was predeceased by her father Peter, an infant sister Rhonda, and her sister Eleanor.
Funeral Services will be held at St. David’s Anglican Church-500- 24 Street East, Prince Albert with The Very Reverend Andrew Hoskin presiding on Wednesday, November 28 at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to a Charity of one’s choice in Valerie’s memory.
