Vera Bliss

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Vera Margery Alice Bliss (Hawkins) at the age of 96.
A celebration of her life will be held on 2:00 PM, Saturday May 12th at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library Auditorium.
Vera was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, second of five children born to Charles and Ivy Hawkins. She was raised in Saskatoon where she resided until her marriage to Wilfred Chlorus Bliss on Dec 27th, 1941. They then moved to the family farm in the Lily Plain district west of Prince Albert where she resided until she moved to Prince Albert in 2006.
She was predeceased by her Husband, W. Chlorus Bliss; her Parents, Charlie and Ivy Hawkins; Brothers, Richard and Maurice; Sisters, Audrey and Irene; Daughters, Lynda and Judith (infant); and Granddaughter, Sebrina. She is survived by her Daughter, Marlene (Garry) Stevenson; Sons, Stanley (Jan) Bliss and Pat (Heather) Bliss; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her passions in life were her family and friends, her commitment to community service, her amazing gardens, and her art. She was proud of achieving Life Memberships in the PA Exhibition Association and the Kyla Art Group. In 1993 she was honored by the YWCA as a Woman of Distinction. She was a keen competitor and frequent Judge at the Prince Albert Exhibition Horticulture and Baking competitions. Creatures of all sorts were a constant part of her daily life.
The Bliss family would like to thank the staff of the Kopera Care Home and The Herb Bassett Home Golden Hill Unit for the kind and generous care extended to Vera in her final years.
