La Ronge Taskforce on hold indefinitely
Council decided to put the La Ronge Taskforce on hold indefinitely only six months into a two-year mandate.
That’s according to Chairperson Anne Calladine, who said taskforce members will no longer be meeting until council decides to revive the initiative. She noted it would have been good to keep it going but added if council doesn’t have the time commitment for it, it’s best to put the taskforce on pause.
“If that’s what works best for the time right now, we’re all in favour of doing it,” Calladine said. “We want to work with the town when the town is ready.”
The taskforce was formally launched in March and other members with the project are vice-chairperson Toby Greschner, Daniel Irvine, Guy Penney, Marilyn Scott, Tia Watt and Scott Robertson. They were supposed to be responsible for helping guide council through a transformational change in the municipality and delivered an Interim Action Plan with recommendations to council in May. The taskforce last met in June when they met with council to discuss the document.
