Nomination deadline extended for 2019 tri-community awards gala

The nomination period for the second annual Tri-Community Awards and Recognition Gala has been extended to March 25.

“Instead of waiting for the last minute to nominate your business, we want more feedback, we want more options,” La Ronge and District Chamber of Commerce President Crystal Everest said. “We’re hoping to do a big boost and big push. We want everyone to get highlighted.”

Nominations for the gala opened March 1 and were originally supposed to close March 20. The switch gives tri-community residents an extra five days to put their nomination in place. The gala will be held April 27 at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre and Everest stated organizers are currently finalizing the agenda for the event. Tickets for the gala will be for sale starting April 1 and residents can click here to submit a nomination.

There have been major changes to how the gala is organized this year including new award categories and a recently announced awards selection committee. Some nomination categories have been renamed, some have been compiled into a single award, some are brand new and others have been removed all together. The awards selection committee consists of non-chamber executive members and non-gala organizing committee members.

Nomination categories include Retail Business of the Year, Food and Beverage Business of the Year, Service, Industry and Trade of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, Home-Based Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Artpreneur of the Year, Young Entrepreneur/Leader Award and Post-Secondary Advocacy Award sponsored by Northlands College.
